July 26, at the Southern Weekly annual Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) Summit, Honeywell ranked second on the Southern Weekly 2018 CSR Ranking for Companies in China. This is a recognition of Honeywell’s outstanding business operations in China and conscious efforts to fulfill corporate social responsibilities.

Honeywell has pledged to reduce China-specific greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 10 percent per dollar of revenue from 2016 levels by 2022. While improving environmental standards itself, Honeywell continues to explore and innovate in environmental technologies, helping enterprises achieve the goals of energy saving and emission reduction in the Chinese market. For more than a decade, based on China's national conditions, Honeywell has launched a number of quality solutions in the China market to protect public health and help enterprises achieve goals of energy saving and emissions reduction, supporting China’s sustainable development and making contributions to the Beautiful China Initiative.
With “Honeywell Hometown Solutions”, the Company’s corporate citizenship initiative, a couple of programs have been successfully carried out in China, including Safe Kids at Home, Streams Action – Honeywell Safe Drinking Water Classroom, Honeywell Leadership Challenge Academy, Honeywell Technology Experience China Open Days, etc. After the Sichuan Earthquake on May 12, 2008, Honeywell helped rebuild two primary schools there. Over the past 10 years, Honeywell and company colleagues have provided continuous support to the two schools.
In addition, it has been 15 years since Honeywell first launched the Safe Kids at Home Program with Safe Kids China in 2005. Till 2019, this program has benefited more than 4.3 million students from over 10,000 primary schools in 66 cities in China. To date, more than 2,500 volunteers have taken active part in this safety education activity, including 1,300 Honeywell employees.
In China, Honeywell has been growing through innovation, implementing the strategies of “East for East” and “East to Rest”. Honeywell was founded in 1885, and its history in China dated back to 1935 with the first franchise in Shanghai. Today, all Honeywell’s four Strategic Business Groups are represented in China, with its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Shanghai. Honeywell has over 50 wholly owned enterprises and joint ventures in more than 30 cities across the country, including 20 plus manufacturing sites, with about 11,000 employees, among which 20 percent are technologists.
The Survey on CSR of Companies in China was jointly initiated in 2003 by the China CSR Research Center and other associations, including the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, China Center for Strategic Studies of Peking University, School of Management of Fudan University, and Nankai University. The Survey is conducted based on information disclosed by companies, registration information from government and data from third-party researches, evaluating companies’ CSR performance. Over the past few years, Honeywell has been listed on the “Ranking of Fortune 500 Companies’ Contribution in China” for several times.
In 2018, considering the current economic development and feedback from experts from the China CSR Research Center, to make it easier to compare the CSR performance of state-owned, private and foreign-funded companies, the previous three rankings – “China Private Companies CSR Ranking”, “Ranking of Fortune 500 Companies’ Contribution in China”, “State-owned Enterprises CSR Ranking” – have been consolidated into one list of “CSR Ranking for Companies in China”. The evaluation system includes seven indicators: governance, fair operation, product, environmental, employee, economic and community.Corporate Communications
